I am an ecologist interested in understanding how plants and animals cope with, adapt to and thrive in the face of the many changes humans make to the natural world.
I use a combination of observational and experimental techniques, and long-term data collected by citizens to explore these questions.
Currently I am a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Turku working on a project to deter meso-predators, particularly invasive meso-predators from predating waterfowl eggs using non-lethal chemical camouflage techniques. I have previously done a post-doc at the Helsinki Lab of Ornithology on understanding ecological patterns behind the wild bird trade after change in trade regulations.
I earned my PhD at the University of Helsinki supervised by Assoc. Prof. Rose Thorogood and Dr. Aleksi Lehikoinen on the interaction of changing land use and climate on birds. I graduated with a Master's in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Exeter and got my Bachelors' degree in Microbiology, Chemistry and Zoology from St. Joseph's College (now University!), Bengaluru.
When I am not busy analysing the mysterious ways of birds I can be found at pub quizzes, playing various sports and singing in a choir.
